The Building Inspector directs and ensures enforcement of municipal ordinances and codes pertaining to the regulation of buildings.

Sonny Zajac

     Mr. Zajac has been in the construction field for over twenty years.  Starting out as a Journeyman Electrician on commercial and industrial projects, he advanced to a project manager at Dyess Air Force Base in Texas designing, estimating, and managing dozens of construction projects.  Most recently, Sonny was working at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi supporting rebuilding efforts atfer Hurricane Katrina.

     Sonny enjoys getting to know the Southern Missouri area along with his wife and yellow lab.

Building Inspections Information


 

The International Residential Code and City Ordinance exempts the following work from a building permit:

  • One story detached accessory buildings less than 200 square feet that are not constructed on a permanent foundation.
  • Fences that are not over 6 feet high.
  • Retaining walls that are not over 4 feet in height.
  • Sidewalks and driveways that are not more than 30 inches above the adjacent grade.
  • Painting, tiling, cabinets, papering, carpeting, counter tops, and similar finish work.
  • Pre-fabricated swimming pools that are less than 24 inches deep.
  • Swing sets and other playground equipment that are accessories to one or two-family dwellings.
  • Window awnings supported by exterior walls.
