Republic Fire Chief
Duane Compton

 

The Fire Chief serves as first in command of the Fire Department; plans and directs all operations and auxiliary services of the department.

Fire Chief Duane Compton joined the Republic Fire Department full-time in August of 2003. Chief Compton is a native of Republic, and has been involved with the Republic Fire Department since January of 1981.

Prior to joining the City of Republic, Chief Compton was employed 17 years by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office where he held the position of Regional Chief Inspector.

Chief Compton is a 1985 graduate from the Drury College, in Springfield, Missouri with an Associate of Science Degree in Fire Science and Criminal Justice. Chief Compton has also completed numerous courses at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD.

Chief Compton is a strong proponent of fire service training and played a major role in the course development of the State of Missouri, State Certified Fire Inspectors course. Chief Compton is also an adjunct instructor with the Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute.

Chief Compton spends his off-duty time with his wife, son and the family/fire dog Oreo. Chief Compton enjoys time outdoors, boating and woodworking.
