Police Explorer Unit

The Republic Police Department Explorer Unit was established for young adults ages 14-21 who may be interested in Law Enforcement as a career. The Explorers are instructed in all aspects of law enforcement as part of their training, including patrol functions, dispatch/communications, and jail operations in both a classroom structure and within the divisions. The Explorers also receive training in firearms, familiarity, chemical weapons (mace), self-defense tactics and many others. Explorers are allowed to "ride along" with officers on patrol duty, are assigned shifts in the communications facility and are active in public relations activities with the department.

Explorers must be a minimum of 14 years of age and less than 21 years of age, maintain a minimum "C" grade point average in school, and must have no previous criminal convictions. If you or anybody you know are interested in learning about law enforcement as a career and live in the Republic, Missouri, area, contact the Explorer Coordinator, at the Republic Police Department (417) 732-2642 for an application or for more information.
