The Republic Parks & Recreation Department will host their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 15th at 10:00 a.m. The Easter Egg Hunt will be located at J.R. Martin Park (300 E. Hines). Children will be divided into four age groups to look for approximately 4,000 candy/toy filled eggs and a few specialty eggs. Ages 12 and under are welcome to participate. The Easter Bunny will arrive at J.R. Martin Park via fire truck after the last age group hunts their eggs. No registration necessary. Don’t forget to bring your basket!

May Day 5K
The Republic Parks & Recreation Department and Cox Fitness Center - Republic will host the 5th Annual May Day 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk on May 3, 2008. The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Republic Community Center (711 E. Miller Road). Awards will be given to the top two males and females in each age division and to the fastest overall male and female immediately following the conclusion of the 5K. The fee for the 5K will be $12.00 if participants sign-up prior to May 3rd and $15.00 the day of the race (1 Mile Fun Run/Walk is free). All 5K participants will receive a t-shirt along with a gift pack.
The City of Republic will host the 12th Annual 'Have-A-Blast' patriotic celebration on Friday, June 27th at J.R. Martin Park. 'Have-A-Blast' begins at approximately 6:00 p.m. and is a fun filled evening of great live music, mouth-watering food, family entertainment and socializing culminating with a spectacular fireworks show at dusk. This year’s event will feature even more games and fun for the whole family. Numerous inflatables will be available including multiple bouncers, a giant slide and an obstacle course. Individuals and families can also compete in such racing competitions as sack racing (individual and 3-legged), the bear and crab crawl, relay racing and challenge racing from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Concessions will be provided for the event by Republic Parks & Recreation, Community 2000 and numerous non-for-profit and private vendors.

Republic Tiger Triathlon
The Republic Parks & Recreation Department and the Ozarks Multisport Club will present the 2nd Annual Republic Tiger Triathlon on August 23, 2008. This sprint style race (300 yard swim, 12.2 mile bike, 3.1 mile run) is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in competing in a triathlon for the first time, but challenging enough for even the most experienced triathletes! Pool House of Horror

Treat Yourself in Republic
On October 31st (Halloween Night), the Republic Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the 12th Annual "Treat Yourself in Republic". "Treat Yourself in Republic" is a safe and fun alternative for trick-or-treaters to enjoy their Halloween night by visiting local businesses and organizations from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. for candy, toys, and more. Look for our "Treat Yourself in Republic" map of local businesses and organizations that will be participating in the event in mid-October.

with Santa

Father/Daughter Valentine Dance
The Republic Parks & Recreation Department will host the 5th Annual Father/Daughter Valentine Dance on Friday, February 6th from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Republic Community Center. Come enjoy refreshments (finger foods), music provided by a live DJ, prizes, pictures taken by a professional photographer and a night full of fun and excitement! PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED and payment is due at the time of registration at the Republic Community Center. Registration is currently open until January 30, 2009.
