Wastewater Department

The City of Republic 's Wastewater Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the collections lines, lift stations and treatment facilities necessary for handling waste produced by the citizens and commercial activities of the City of Republic . The collection system consist of approximately 95miles of gravity main and force mains, 1300 manholes, and a treatment plant capable of providing treatment for 3.2 million gallons per day.

The plant utilizes an activated sludge treatment process to eliminate contaminates from the wastewater flow. This process mimics natural activity occurring in streams, creeks and lakes but occurs in confined spaces and under conditions that speed up the process. An ultra-violent light system is used to disinfect and complete the treatment process before discharging effluent into the environment.
