1. Does the Republic Police Department unlock car doors when the keys are locked inside? This is not a standard policy, however in the event a small child or animal are locked inside we will assist in getting the car unlocked. 2. Where is the police department located? 540 Civic Blvd. Republic, Mo - We are located approximately 2 blocks south of US Highway 60 West at the corner of Illinois and Civic Blvd. 3. When I call 9-1-1 or the police department, what do I need to tell them? The dispatcher will ask several questions. It is important that you listen to the dispatcher and follow their directions. STAY ON THE PHONE UNTIL THE DISPATCHER TELLS YOU IT IS OK TO HANG UP. They will need to know as much as you can tell about the following:
Yes, but the signal may bounce off of another tower and may go to another city. Let the 911 operator know where you are calling from your name, address, and phone number so we can get help to you as quickly as possible. 5. Why is it important to have my address on the front of my house? Your address number should be posted at your driveway, visible from both directions if possible. Your address number should also be clearly posted on your home so it can be seen at night. Remember in an emergency there is no time to waste. Make sure you can be located quickly and easily. There is also a city ordinance requiring the posting of house numbers on the front of your residence. For more information on addressing, contact Community Development Department at (417)732-3100. 6. Who do I contact for an Order of Protection? Contact Greene County Circuit Court Clerk at (417)868-4074 located at 1010 Boonville Springfield , MO , for information. 7. Why do the storm sirens go off once a month? The storm sirens are checked on a monthly basis to ensure they are working adequately. The scheduled time is the second Wednesday of the month weather permitting. 8. Where are the storm shelters located? Republic does not have certified storm shelters available; however, several area businesses and churches have volunteered to become emergency storm refuge areas. Please note that these areas are not a certified shelter and the City does not recommend or endorse their safety. Should you decide to take refuge in one of these areas, always remember your travel time to these shelters as you could be left less protected in your vehicle than in your own home. Please click here for a list of the volunteer storm refuge shelters. 9. What am I suppose to do when I hear the sirens go off? When severe weather is in the area, take shelter immediately. 10. My family will be going out of town. Can the police check on our house for us while we are gone? Vacation watches are done only if staffing allows. We will not be responsible for your home while you are out of town. You can tell the police department that you are going out of town and if staffing allows, someone will drive by your house. (link to vacation request online form) 11. Who can I contact for road conditions? The Missouri State Highway has a toll free number to inquire on road condition within the state (800)222-6400. They also have a website http://maps.modot.mo.gov 12. Who do I contact about a traffic ticket? Questions on traffic citations/tickets should be directed to the Republic Municipal Court (417)732-3880. 13. Do I need a permit to install an alarm in my residence or business? Yes. Every residence or business within the City that has an alarm is required to obtain a permit from the administrative offices of the Police Department (417)732-3910. How do I find out id my lost wallet, bicycle, cell phone, etc., has been turned into the Police Department? Communications keeps a lost and found database when someone calls in property they are missing or they have found. Call (417)732-3900 to check the database. Also, there are times that the property room could have this, so also contact them (417)732-3940. 15. My power is out. Who do I need to contact? Please contact your electric company.
