The 5th Annual Father/Daughter Valentine Dance will be held on Friday, February 6th, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Republic Community Center.  Come and enjoy a night full of fun, excitement, and dancing complete with refreshments, music provided by a live D.J., prizes, and a complementary photograph taken by a professional photographer.  Approximately 500 fathers and daughters participated in the 2008 event.  Pre-registration is required for this event and payment is due at the time of registration.  Registration will begin in January and will run through January 30th, 2009.

The annual Republic Parks and Recreation Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 14th, 2009, at 10:00 a.m.  The event will be held at J.R. Martin Park (300 E. Hines).  Children will be divided into four different age groups to look for approximately 8,000 candy and toy filled eggs.  The Easter Bunny will arrive at J.R. Martin Park after the hunt is finished.  No registration is necessary for this event.  Don’t forget your Easter basket!

The 6th Annual May Day 5K & Fun Run/Walk, hosted by Republic Parks and Recreation and CoxHealth Fitness Centers, will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009.

All registered 5K participants will receive an official May Day 5K T-Shirt; all Fun Run/Walk participants will receive a ribbon upon completion of the 1 Mile run/walk. The top two males and females in each age category receive prizes along with the top overall male and top overall female.

Registration will begin on January 1, 2009.

The Concert in the Park is held at J.R. Martin Park (300 E. Hines) and is a chance to have a relaxing evening in the park, listening to live music, and spending time with family and friends in the community.
