The Wastewater Division helps protect the water quality of the Sac River Drainage Basin by operating and maintaining the Republic Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and all related wastewater facilities.  These related facilities include 10 pumping stations and over 100 miles of sewer collection lines. The treatment process removes harmful elements of waste generally through natural biological, chemical and physical processes.  The effectiveness of the natural processes utilized is amplified under the controlled conditions and confinement of the WWTP.
