Republic, MO - The Republic Police Department would like to extend their gratitude to our generous citizens, the Wal-Mart Supercenter and Destiny Church for their contributions and efforts on May, 24, 2011, to gather food, water and supplies for the victims of the Joplin Tornado Disaster. A collection point was set up in the parking lot of the Republic Wal-Mart Supercenter where Republic Police Officers, Cox Emergency Service workers and other volunteers collected almost $1700.00 in funds, nearly 300 cases of water, donations of clothing, food, hygiene items, pet food and diapers, as well as, miscellaneous items for the victims of this overwhelming disaster. The supplies were delivered to Joplin the evening of May 24th by members of Destiny Church for immediate distribution. The outpouring of support for our neighbors was truly a genuine example of the generosity and compassion of our community!
