Republic, MO – The Republic Police Department announces that a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted during the month of July. Funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, this effort will focus on reducing deaths and injuries caused by impaired drivers.
Sobriety Checkpoints are a part of the Republic Police Departments efforts to remove careless and impaired drivers from our highways, and will be conducted at a location which has been found to experience alcohol-related contacts, unsafe driving contacts, and crashes.
Sergeant Brian Sells says, "Impaired and careless drivers compromise the safety of every citizen who travels our roads. We will continue to focus our efforts on making our roadways safer".
The Republic Police Department urges all citizens to help law enforcement efforts to
apprehend impaired drivers. If you suspect a motorist of driving while intoxicated or observe a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner, contact the Republic Police Department by calling 911 or 417-732-3900.
