Republic, MO – The Republic Police Department is excited to announce our third annual Citizen's Police Academy. This twelve-week program, with a graduation at the conclusion, is open to residents of Republic, who are at least 18 years of age. The program is free of charge and offers a new and sometimes hands-on learning experience each week. The sessions are taught by experienced police officers, who share their unique perspective on law enforcement.

The goal of the Citizen's Police Academy is to open up the Republic Police Department to the public and show the citizens exactly what we do, how we do it, and why. Some of the topics covered are: crime scene investigation, Tactical Response Unit, ride along with an officer, domestic violence, DWI enforcement, and much more.

With the Republic Police Department's commitment to the community and proactive problem-solving, we see the Citizen's Police Academy as an effective way of bringing law enforcement and the public together in an informal, educational forum. The benefits of such a partnership can only help strengthen the entire community in terms of public safety and quality of life.

If you are interested, please contact the Republic Police Department for an application. The academy will be every Tuesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. beginning on May 25, 2010. Deadline for accepting applications will be May 10th, 2010.
