Republic, MO – The Republic Police Department announces that sobriety checkpoints will be conducted during the month of July and August. Funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, this effort will focus on reducing deaths and injuries caused by impaired drivers.
Sobriety Checkpoints are a part of the Republic Police Department's efforts to remove careless and impaired drivers from our highways, and will be conducted at a location which has been found to experience alcohol-related contacts, unsafe driving contacts, and crashes. Sergeant Brian Sells says, "Impaired and careless drivers compromise the safety of every citizen who travels our roads. We will continue to focus our efforts on making our roadways safer."
