Recently a number of Street Division employees earned their "Road Scholar I" certification from the Missouri Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP). Congratulations to these individuals for raising the bar of professionalism in the Public Works Department:

Stacey Grooms
Darrell Jackson
Jeremiah Jones
Kevin Lewis
Fred Prisk
Doug Short
John Walles

This Road Scholar program is offered through the Missouri LTAP at Missouri University of Science and Technology. The following subjects are a focus of the certifications:

• work force development
• enhanced safety and security
• solutions to environmental, congestion, capacity and other issues

According to the LTAP, each mile of road that connects friends and neighbors, moves goods and services, and ensures timely response for public health, safety and security; has benefited from the services provided. It is the goal of the Republic Street Department to extend these benefits to our local citizen's by obtaining proper training and certifications through organizations such as the LTAP.
