How do I request a Street Closure for a Block Party or Special Event?

To request a Street Closure, a Request for Street Closure Application must be filed at least two weeks prior to the event with the Public Works Department. All applications are reviewed by the Public Works Director, the Police Chief and the Fire Chief. All three parties must approve the application prior to approval of the request. If the request is approved, the applicant will be notified as soon as possible. There is no charge for this process.

How do I request permission to work in the City right-of-way?

You must submit a Right-of-Way Permit to the Public Works Department for review and approval. If the permit is approved, the applicant will be notified. There is a minimum charge of $25.00 for a Non-franchised applicant and work cannot begin until approval is received.

How do I get my utility lines located prior to digging?

You must contact Missouri One Call (1-800-344-7483 or 1-800-DIG-RITE), 48 hours prior to digging. They will dispatch all member utilities to mark utilities located in the dig area. Please note, only utilities owned by companies or the City are marked. Utilities that are owned by the home owner are not marked. Utilities owned by home owners are water and sewer service lines, which are the lines that run from the house to the owner's side of the City mains, any electrical, fiber, cable television lines, etc. that were installed by a private individual are not located through this request.

How do I find out where my water and sewer service lines are located?

Try to obtain the information from the previous owner or builder, or contact a licensed plumber.

How do I report a broken/inoperable street light?

Submit a Public Works Request for Service form to the Public Works Department or call Empire District Electric at 1-800-206-2300. If the request is filed with the City, the request will be forwarded to Empire District Electric, which maintains the street lights within the City limits of Republic. Questions regarding the status of the repair must be directed to Empire District Electric.

How do I report a City water or sewer main line leak?

Please contact Public Works at 417-732-3400 to report leaks during normal business hours. To report a problem after-hours, please call the non-emergency Police Department number, 417-732-3900.

How do I report a problem/concern with my water meter?

Please call the Utility Billing Division at 417-732-3136.


How do I contact someone regarding a problem or question with my water/sewer bill?

How do I get my water temporarily or permanently, turned on or off?

For new customers, please go to the Utility Billing Division section for more information. A new account requires an applicant to come to City Hall, 213 N. Main Street, Republic, to show proof of identification, etc.

How do I report a drainage/flooding problem?

Please call the Public Works Department at 417-732-3400.

How do I report a deceased animal in the street?

Deceased animals on City streets can be reported by calling the Public Works Department at 417-732-3400. Deceased animals on County roads need to be reported to the Greene County Highway Department at 417-831-3591. Deceased animals on State roads need to be reported to the Missouri Department of Transportation at 417-895-7600.

How do I report a mosquito problem?

The Street Division can treat standing ponds, lakes, ditches, etc. located on City property with either a "mosquito biscuit" that kills mosquito larvae or by spraying the area with a pesticide. Private property is not treated by the City.  You may submit a mosquito control request by clicking here.
