got Mud? Run Scheduled for August 27

The City of Republic Parks & Recreation Department will host the 2nd Annual got Mud? Run on Saturday, August 27, 2016. The got Mud? Run is the only mud run offering in southwest Missouri that is exclusively for youth. The event will be held at Brookline Park located at 2696 E. Sawyer Road in Republic, Missouri. 

Youth can splash, splat, run, jump, climb and crawl their way through courses of varying length and obstacle difficulty. Mud Rush #1 will begin at 8:30 a.m. for 4-6 year olds and be one mile in length with 13 obstacles. Mud Rush #2 will begin at 9:30 a.m. for 7-10 year olds and be 1.5 miles in length with 16 obstacles. Mud Rush #3 will begin at 10:30 a.m. for 7-10 year olds and be 1.5 miles in length with 16 obstacles. Mud Rush #4 will begin at 11:30 a.m. for 11-15 year olds and be 2 miles in length with 19 obstacles. Each rush will be capped at 150 participants. 

The registration fee at this time is $35.00 per participant. Fees include a t-shirt, got? Mud Run temporary tattoos, a got? Mud Run wristband, and a custom dog tag medal at the finish line! Registration can be done online at www.getmeregistered.com, in person at the Republic Community Center, or a registration form can be mailed to 711 E. Youth Soccer & Flag Football Registration Ends Friday

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department will take registrations for Fall Youth Soccer and Flag Football through Friday, August 19.

The Co-ed Youth Soccer league is open to children ages 4-12 (age on first day of the season). The eight-game season begins on Thursday, September 8. The league fee is $275.00 per team with a $25.00 discount for resident teams. Games are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Garoutte Field located at 210 E. Hines in Republic. 

Youth Flag Football is offered to 1st–4th grade boys. The six game season will begin the week of September 12; all games will be played on Mondays at the Bervin White Memorial Baseball/Softball Complex. This league is designed to educate participants about football while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. Players learn skills and lessons that will help them succeed both on and off the field. The game is five on five and teams should have between 7-12 players participating on their roster. The fee is $200 per team with a $25.00 discount for resident teams.

The deadline to register for both sports is Friday, August 19. To register a team or individual child, call (417) 732-3500 or stop by the Republic Community Center located at 711 E. Miller Road. All of our youth sports programs rely heavily on volunteer coaches to make them successful.

Toddler Tumbling

Toddler Programs Have Returned

Toddler Open Gym is offered for toddlers ages 0-5 every Monday that Republic Schools are in session from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Age appropriate toys and activities will be set up so toddlers can run off their energy! Our inflatable tiger bounce is also up for the last hour of the program! A parent/guardian is required to stay and is encouraged to interact with their child. Toddler Open Gym will not be held when Republic Schools are out of session or on snow days. The fee for Toddler Open Gym is $3 per toddler and registration is not required.

Tot  Academy includes themed lessons, a story, activities/crafts and a snack. A new theme will accompany each four week session. Past themes have included the ocean, the four seasons, and science. The next sessions will be August 26 - September 16 (Theme: Space) and September 30 - October 21 (Theme: TBA) with class times available on Fridays at 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. The registration fee is $20 per toddler for each four week session. 


Gymnasium & Walking Track Closed August 22 - 27

The gymnasiums and walking track at the Republic Community Center will be closed August 22 through 27 to refinish the gym floors. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause!

RAC Remaining Days of Operation

The Republic Aquatic Center is open on weekends only through Labor Day. Be sure to plan your visit to the Republic Aquatic Center as we wrap up another great summer! The remaining dates of operation are as follows:  
•    Saturday, August 20: 12:00-7:00 p.m.
•    Sunday, August 21: 12:00-6:00 p.m.
•    Saturday, August 27: 12:00-7:00 p.m.
•    Sunday, August 28: 12:00-6:00 p.m.
•    Saturday, September 3: 12:00-7:00 p.m.
•    Sunday, September 4: 12:00-6:00 p.m.
•    Monday, September 5 (Labor Day): 12:00-6:00 p.m.  

Cheer Republic

Cheer Republic Registration Deadline is August 24

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department is currently accepting registrations for the Cheer Republic program! This program is open to 3rd-6th graders who are interested in learning the basics of cheerleading. This fun, recreational cheer program begins in late August and runs through mid-November.  Activities include cheer practice once per week (Mondays, 6:00-7:30 p.m.), cheering at Republic Youth Football games (Saturdays, game times TBA), and participating in the annual Republic Christmas Parade in November. 

The registration fee for this program is $100.00 per participant and includes a Cheer Republic t-shirt and pom-poms. Participants must have their own black shorts/pants and tennis shoes to wear with their t-shirt when cheering at the games. The deadline to register is Wednesday, August 24 and practice begins on Monday, August 29! There must be at least 15 participants registered in order to run this program. Registration must be completed in person at the Republic Community Center; payment is due at the time of registration. 

Senior Programs & Senior (Citizen) Prom

Senior Movie Day is offered the last Thursday of every month. Free coffee and popcorn will be provided. This month’s movie is The Intern (PG-13) and will be shown on Thursday, August 25.

Ben Whittaker is a 70-year-old widower who has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin.

A Senior Citizen Trip is scheduled to see Dublin’s Irish Tenors & The Celtic Ladies in Branson on Tuesday, August 30th! The van will depart from the Republic Community Center at 12:00 p.m. for the show (please eat lunch prior to arrival). After the show, we will visit Mel’s Hard Luck Diner for dinner and arrive back at the Community Center around 7:00 p.m. 

The cost for this trip is $25.00 per person. The price includes transportation and ticket to the show; dinner is not included in the cost of the trip. Registration will run through Friday, August 26th or until the trip is full (limited to the first 12 registered participants). There must be at least nine people registered in order to take the trip. Registration can be done at the Republic Community Center front desk and payment will be due at the time of registration. All participants must be able to step into a 15-passenger van with little to no assistance. If you need special accommodations to transport assistive equipment, please let the front desk staff know when registering to make sure there is enough room in the vans.  

The 4th Annual Senior (Citizen) Prom will be held on Friday, September 9 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Republic Activities Building (711 E. Miller Rd.). Attendees will enjoy dancing, country music by the band Classic Country Trio, and a delicious meal. 

Tickets are $12.00 per individual or $20.00 per couple by September 2. After September 2, ticket prices will increase to $15.00 per individual or $25.00 per couple. Tickets can be purchased at the Republic Community Center, located at 711 E. Miller Rd. Seniors are encouraged to bring a date of any age. This will be a great opportunity for a memorable night out with a grandchild, child, neighbor, spouse or friend.

Girls Basketball

Girls Basketball Registration

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department will be taking team and individual registration for K-6th grade girls basketball from August 29 through September 23. Program fees will be $275.00 per team with a resident team discount of $25.00. The eight week season is set to begin the week of October 17 with the following game days:

K-1 Grade:    Saturday 
2nd Grade:    Saturday
3rd Grade:     Friday
4th Grade:     Thursday
5th Grade:     Monday or Tuesday
6th Grade:     Monday or Tuesday
All games will be played at the Republic Community Center located at 711 E. Miller Road. This program will rely on volunteer coaches to make it successful.
