Mayor Daniel Harter

From the Mayor's Desk

October in Republic kicked off with the 25th     annual Pumpkin Daze event. The weather was perfect for this event that celebrates our rural and agricultural heritage and brings our community together. A big thanks to the Pumpkin Daze Committee for their planning of this event with over 200 booths filled with handcrafted items and refreshments and good entertainment! Thanks to the Republic High School FFA students who were a big help in the set-up, clean-up and general help, you did a great job! And last, a big thanks to our Public Works Director David Brock for his assistance with helping the committee bring this event to “R” -town.
Welcome all new residents to Republic. We are happy you chose our community as your home. Be sure to visit our web-site for all upcoming events such as the Kiwanis Christmas Parade, Reindeer Run, Breakfast with Santa, meeting dates and general community information. Our website address is Our Twitter account is now set up so be sure to visit and give us a tweet!
Veterans Day is November 11th and on behalf of all the city staff and Council, we would like to wish all veterans a happy Veterans Day and thank you for the service you gave to our country. Please take time out this Veterans Day to thank all veterans and in a special way, take time to welcome home all the veterans who served in the Vietnam War. It may be late in coming, but welcome home!
Now for a helpful hint from the Mayor. When preparing to carve the turkey for your Thanksgiving celebration, remove the wishbone first thing. Then the breast meat can be removed easier and in one piece. Do this and you will be the hero of the day in front of all your friends and family!
Have a great Thanksgiving from all the staff and City Council of “R” -town and we wish everyone a great start to the holiday season!
Dan Harter,

Happy Thanksgiving
