got Mud? Run Registration Fee to Increase June 1

Today is the last day to take advantage of the early registration rate for our 4th Annual got Mud? Run. The event will be held on Saturday, August 25. Ages 4-6 will begin at 8:15 a.m. and will have 14-15 obstacles to complete on a one mile course. Ages 7-10 can choose the 9:00 or 10:15 a.m. rush. There will be 16-18 obstacles on a 1.5 mile course. Ages 11-15 begin at 11:30 a.m. and will complete 20-22 obstacles on a 2 mile course. New this year is a family rush beginning at 12:45 p.m. This rush is open to youth ages 7-15 who MUST be accompanied by at least one family member or guardian who is age 16+. Each rush will be capped at 250 participants. The registration fee is $25 per person through May 31. Starting June 1, the fee will increase to $30 and will increase again on August 1 to $35. Be sure to register early! Registration can be completed online at www.republicmudrun.com (processing fees apply) or at the Republic Community Center. Munchkin Movie Day This Friday

Our Munchkin Movie Day is tomorrow! Munchkin Movie Day is held the first Friday of every month at 10:30 a.m. Tomorrow's movie is Horton Hears a Who! Join us for the FREE movie with FREE popcorn!

Okinawan Karate Class

Did you know that the Republic Parks & Recreation Department offers an Okinawan Karate class? Classes are taught by Anthony Willis. Anthony has a 27-year career in the United States Air Force. He has been practicing and researching martial arts for 30+ years and has several black belts, including a 6th degree black belt in Okinawan Goju Ryu. He lived in Okinawa and studied under an Okinawan instructor for just under five years, and has been teaching Goju Ryu Karate for over 20 years.

Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and are open to participants ages 6 and over. Each session lasts nine weeks. The fees for each session are listed below:

Initial Student Fee: $90.00
Additional Student (within the same household): $75.00
Uniform Fee (for new students or reorders): $50.00

A new session just started, so be sure to sign up soon to get in on this session. Registration can be completed at the Republic Community Center.

Volunteers in Parks (VIP) Program

Did you know that the Republic Parks & Recreation Department offers a VIP Program? VIP is short for “Volunteers in Parks”. Individuals seeking volunteer opportunities with our department are encouraged to become VIP members! As a member, you can choose what types of events or beautification projects you would like to assist with and get some great perks along the way. Upon registration with the program, members will receive a VIP Program Member car decal and welcome letter in the mail. Members also receive an official VIP t-shirt at their first volunteer shift to wear for all future volunteer opportunities. In addition, volunteer hours will be tracked; those that volunteer for eight or more hours within the calendar year will be invited to an annual VIP Recognition Event.

Local businesses and organizations are also encouraged to sign up as a VIP Community Partner and volunteer together as a team! As a VIP Community Partner, your business/organization will be recognized at any events in which you volunteer, announced at the annual VIP Recognition Event, and receive a VIP Community Partner decal for your door or window. Those volunteering through a business/organization will also receive the VIP t-shirt.

There will be several volunteer opportunities in the coming months with Have-A-Blast, Tigger and Tiger Tri, and the got Mud? Run.

You won't want to miss our next movie night at The Amp! Join us on Friday, June 15th for 80's night! We'll have 80's music and 80's trivia prior to Back to the Future starting at 8:45 p.m.

Save the Date for Have-A-Blast

The City of Republic will host the 22nd Annual Have-A-Blast Patriotic Celebration on Friday, June 29, 2018 at J.R. Martin Park in Republic (300 E. Hines). Local 80's tribute band Members Only will be back for another amazing show! In addition, Josh Farley will be returning for two magic shows for the kiddos, and the Kiwanis Club of Republic will be back with BINGO!

Admission is FREE; food vendors and some activities will require a fee. Stay tuned for more details on the 2018 event as they become available!
