Youth Tigger Tri & Adult Tiger Tri

Republic Parks & Recreation and the Ozarks Multisport Club will hold the 9th Annual Republic Youth Tigger Tri this Friday, August 9. The Tigger Tri utilizes all of the event set up for the adult Republic Tiger Tri held the following morning and gives kids the same opportunity of participating in a first-class triathlon event.

The race is available for all children ages 5-13 and begins at 6:45 p.m. A Beginner’s Course is mandatory for children ages 5-6 and optional for ages 7-10. A Challenge Course is optional for ages 7-10 and mandatory for ages 11-13. The fee for the race is $30 per participant. Registrations include a technical participant shirt just like the adults receive in the Republic Tiger Tri.

Registration for the 2019 Republic Youth Tigger Tri may be completed online at by 11:59 p.m. on August 8 or in person at the Republic Community Center. Registration is limited to the first 100 participants.

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department, in a cooperative effort with the Ozarks Multisport Club, will host the 13th Annual Republic Tiger Tri on Saturday, August 10 beginning at 7:00 a.m. at Miller Park located at 711 E. Miller Rd. Title Sponsor for the 2019 event will be Larson Law Firm.

Registration for the 2019 Tiger Tri may be completed online at by 11:59 p.m. on August 8 or in person at the Republic Community Center by 7:00 p.m. on August 9.

got Mud? Run

The 5th Annual got Mud? Run will be held on Saturday, August 24. Ages 4-6 will begin at 8:15 a.m. and will have 16 obstacles to complete on a one mile course. Ages 7-10 can choose the 9:00 or 10:00 a.m. rush. There will be 19 obstacles on a 1.5 mile course. Ages 11-15 begin at 11:00 a.m. and will complete 23 obstacles on a 2 mile course. The family rush will begin at 12:00 p.m. This rush is open to youth ages 7-15 who MUST be accompanied by at least one family member or guardian who is age 16+.

Each rush will be capped at 250 participants. The registration fee is $35. Registration can be completed online at (processing fees apply) or at the Republic Community Center. Thank you to our presenting sponsors BioLife Plasma Services and Smile Zone!

Needing Event Volunteers for Tigger Tri & got Mud? Run

Republic Parks & Recreation is needing volunteers for two of our events in August. The Youth Tigger Tri event will be held this Friday, August 9 and the got Mud? Run will be held Saturday, August 24. Links with more information about each opportunity and a sign-up form are below. Volunteers will receive a Volunteer in Parks (VIP) t-shirt to wear at the event.

Sunrise Yoga at The Amp on Saturday, August 17

Join us for Sunrise Yoga at The Amp on Saturday, August 17 at 6:00 a.m. The class will be led by Emery Bryant. The class is $5 per participant. Be sure to bring your own mat. Drop-ins welcome.

The Republic Aquatic Center will be open normal operating hours through Wednesday, August 14. After that, the RAC will be open weekends only through Labor Day. The dates and times of operations after August 14 are listed in the graphic below.

Fall Sports Registration

Try Archery Program

Join us for our Try Archery program. Learn range safety and the steps of shooting in this 50 minute introductory class for beginners who want to give archery a shot. Classes are offered at the Archery Range at Brookline Park on August 31st with class times starting at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00 am. This program is open to participants 7 years and older. $15 per archer. Pre-registration is required. Class size limited to 12 participants per session. All equipment provided. No personal equipment allowed.

Toddler Programming

Calling all parents of toddlers! Be sure to mark your calendar for these programs.

Toddler Open Gym
Toddler Open Gym will be offered on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. through August 12. Starting August 19, Toddler Open Gym will return to normal hours and will be offered on Mondays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Age appropriate toys and activities will be available for your child in addition to our inflatable tiger bounce house! This is a great opportunity for your child to run off extra energy and interact with other children in the community. Toddler Open Gym is $3 per toddler.

Toddler Tumbling
Toddler Tumbling is a basic tumbling class open to toddlers (ages 2-5). Tumbling, movement, balance and flexibility will be covered in each session. Music and props will be incorporated into the class. One parent will be required to participate in the class with their toddler. The next session of Toddler Tumbling will be held on Thursday evenings August 29 - September 19. The registration fee for this class is $20 per four week session.

Homeschool Gym Classes

Homeschool Gym will return to normal hours starting Thursday, August 15. Classes will be held every Thursday morning from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. with a drop-in fee of $3.00 per class. This program is also open to grades 1-12. Homeschool Gym classes will consist of group games such as kickball, volleyball, basketball, various tag games, etc.

Next Okinawan Karate Session Begins August 20

Okinawan Karate is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The next session will run August 20 - October 10. The program is open to youth and adults ages 6+. Program fees for this session are $80 for the initial student and $65 per student for any additional family members. White uniforms are required. If you need a uniform, the fee is $50.

Okinawan Karate classes are taught by Anthony Willis. Anthony relocated to the area after a 27-year career in the United States Air Force. He has been practicing and researching martial arts for 30+ years and has several black belts, including a 6th degree black belt in Okinawan Goju Ryu. He lived in Okinawa and studied under an Okinawan instructor for just under five years, and has been teaching Goju Ryu Karate for over 20 years.

Senior Programming

There are several programming opportunities available for seniors at the Republic Community Center. Programs include Senior Game Days, Senior Wii Bowling and the monthly Senior Movie. More information on each program can be found on our website

Living Legacy Tree Program Deadline

The fall planting deadline for the Living Legacy Tree Program is Friday, August 31. If you would like to purchase a tree to be planted at J.R. Martin Park this fall, please return your completed form and payment to the Republic Community Center at 711 E. Miller Rd.
