Amp Events in September

Mark your calendar for our upcoming events at The Amp this month. Dress up in your finest superhero gear and join us this Saturday, September 7 for Incredibles 2! We'll have several superhero-themed activities including an obstacle course inflatable, crafts, a costume contest, and more! Activities begin at 6:30 p.m. with the movie starting at approximately 7:45 p.m.

On Saturday, September 21 we'll be showing Black Panther on the big screen. Marvel Movie Trivia will start at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Our movie events are FREE! Concession items will be available to purchase. Bring blankets, cushions, or lawn chairs for seating.

Yoga After Dark at The Amp

Calling all yogis! Our next Yoga @ The Amp night will be held on Thursday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. This class will be taught under The Amp lights by Sara Waters, who teaches workplace wellness at OCH Business Park. You can pre-register by calling the Republic Community Center (732-3500) or walk-in’s are welcome for each yoga class! The class fee is $5 per person.

Yoga After Dark

New! Family Campout Event

Join us for our first annual Family Campout held at Brookline Park on Friday, September 20!  For $30 per family you will receive hamburgers, hot dogs and s'mores on Friday night, breakfast on Saturday morning, and a campsite! Activities during the campout include group games, archery, and a bonfire perfect for telling stories. Call the Republic Community Center at 732-3500 to register today!

Family Camp Out

Senior Dine & Dance

The 7th Annual Senior Dine & Dance will be held Friday, September 27. Join us for an evening of live country music and dancing! We will be welcoming back the Ozark Country Band this year. Dinner and a complementary photo are also included. Tickets are available for purchase at the Republic Community Center. The price per person is $12 through September 20. Beginning September 21, prices will increase to $15 per person.

Senior Dine & Dance

Fall A.F.E.P. Session Began September 3

The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program, also known as AFEP, is low-impact physical activity program proven to reduce pain and decrease stiffness. Classes include gentle range-of-motion exercises that are suitable for every fitness level and ability along with a joint warm-up, balance and endurance exercises, and a relaxation period at the end of class.  This enjoyable and motivational exercise program helps to keep joints flexible, muscles strong, increases energy, and improves overall well-being.  Classes are taught by a trained program leader. 

Who is Eligible? With the consent of his/her physician, any adult with any type of arthritis may participate. Participants must be able to independently work with assistive devices (if used) or, if in a wheelchair, adults must be able to transfer to a straight-backed chair. Exercises can supplement, but should not replace, any exercises prescribed by a doctor or therapist.

New! Youth Futsal League Registration Opens September 16

A new youth Futsal League is starting this fall! What is Futsal? Futsal is similar to soccer, but is played indoors on a court instead of a field. The game also uses a weighted ball that won't bounce and fewer players on the court at one time. The league will be available to youth ages 3 to 14. Registration begins September 16 and will run through October 18. The season begins November 4.

Toddler Programming

Calling all parents of toddlers! Be sure to mark your calendar for these programs.

Munchkin Movie Day
The next Munchkin Movie Day will be held this Friday, September 6 at 10:30 a.m. The movie is Norm of the North Keys to the Kingdom. In addition to the movie, other crafts and activities will be available. The Munchkin Movie is free and free popcorn will also be available.

Toddler Open Gym
Toddler Open Gym will be offered on Monday mornings from 9:30-11:30 a.m. when Republic Schools are in session. Age appropriate toys and activities will be available for your child in addition to our inflatable tiger bounce house! This is a great opportunity for your child to run off extra energy and interact with other children in the community. Toddler Open Gym is $3 per toddler.

Toddler Tumbling
Toddler Tumbling is a basic tumbling class open to toddlers (ages 2-5). Tumbling, movement, balance and flexibility will be covered in each session. Music and props will be incorporated into the class. One parent will be required to participate in the class with their toddler. The next session of Toddler Tumbling will be held on Thursday evenings October 3-24. Registration will open on September 12 and the fee for this class is $20 per four week session.

Senior Programming

There are several programming opportunities available for seniors at the Republic Community Center. Programs include Senior Wii Bowling, Senior Trips, and the monthly Senior Movie. More information on each program can be found on our website

Republic Community Center Returns to Fall/Winter/Spring Hours

Our extended Fall/Winter/Spring hours began September 1! We are now open until 9:00 p.m. during the week and 8:00 p.m. on weekends through May 31, 2020.
