BOOgie Bash

Are you ready to get your BOOgie on? Grab your costume and join the fun at our annual Boogie Bash on Friday, October 22.  Games, inflatables, The Balloon Lady, face painting, the pumpkin launch, hayrides and other activities will be available from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  The costume contest will begin at 6:00 p.m. at The Amp, followed by The Gruffalo and It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown on the big screen.  This is a free event with concessions available for purchase.

Treat Yourself in Republic

The 25th Annual “Treat Yourself in Republic” Halloween event, organized by Republic Parks & Recreation, is an event in which local businesses, churches, and organizations provide a safe alternative to trick-or-treating for children in Republic and the surrounding communities. The event will be held Halloween night (Sunday, October 31, 2021) from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.  A map of all participating locations will be available one week prior to the event.

Jurassic Range

The dinosaurs are coming out of extinction for this larger-than-life experience! Step into a Jurassic world as we take a quest into the wild. Toddler Programming


Do you have a curious toddler looking for more ways to learn and explore? Check out these upcoming toddler programs! 

Mini Music Makers - This 4-week class offers an introduction to music, instruments, and more. Sessions available on Mondays at 5:30 pm. New sessions starting September 27 and November 1. Pre-registration is required. Limited space available. Fee is $35 per session (Four Weeks).

Toddler Tumbling - This 4-week class offers an introduction to tumbling, movement, balance, and flexibility. Sessions available on Mondays at 4:30 or Tuesdays at 5:30 and 6:30 pm. New sessions starting September 27 and November 1. Pre-registration is required. Limited space available. Fee is $25 per session (Four Weeks).

Toddler Open Gym - Toddler Open Gym provides an opportunity for parents and their young children to interact and play with others in the community. Age appropriate gym equipment will be set up in the Activities Building gymnasium from 9:30-11:30 am on Friday. Fall dates include October 8, 15, 22, November 5, 12, and December 3, 10. Pre-registration available. Drop-ins welcome. Fee is $3 per class.

Toddler Dance Party - Get silly and show off your moves from 9:30-10:15 am on select Friday mornings as our instructor guides toddlers through choreographed movements and sing-a-long songs. Fall dates are October 29, November 19, and December 17 and include holiday songs so be sure to wear your Halloween costume, Christmas jammies, or other seasonal attire. Pre-registration recommended. Drop-ins welcome as space allows. Fee is $2 per class. 

Toddler Animal Encounters - Every 3rd Monday at 9:30 am, join us at the Miller Park Pavilion for a FabZOOlous time as Dickerson Park Zoo brings the zoo to you with a 30 minute lesson and a visit from different zoo animals. In the event of inclement weather, the program will move inside the Activities Building. Fall dates include October 18, November 15, and December 20. Pre-registration is preferred. Drop-ins welcome. Fee is $5 per class.

Messy Makers Art Club - Every 2nd Monday from 9:30-10:30 am, join us at the Activities Building for toddler arts and crafts. Make and take home a masterpiece, but leave the mess behind. Fall dates include October 11, November 8, and December 13. Pre-registration is preferred. Drop-ins welcome. Fee is $4 per class.

Youth & Family Programming

Youth Art Classes - Every third Monday at 6:00 pm, join us at the Republic Community Center for Youth Art Class. Each week the instructor will guide children through the steps of a seasonal arts and crafts project. Enjoy all the messy fun of making something, and we'll take care of the clean-up. Pre-registration is required. Fee is $10 per initial child and $5 for each additional sibling.

Okinawan Karate - Okinawan Karate is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 pm and is open to youth and adults ages 6+. The fall session runs from October 12 - December 9. Registration opens September 21. The Fee is $90 per session for initial family member and $75 per session for each additional family member. Pre-registration is required.

Creepies, Crawlies & Crafts - Yikes! Join us on October 13 at 6:00 pm for an evening of creepy crawly critters as we bring the zoo to you. Dickerson Park Zoo is bringing 3 animal ambassadors for a fabZOOlous encounter experience. After meeting and learning about the animals, youth will have the chance to pick out and paint a pumpkin. Parents can enjoy a chance for their child to make a fall craft without making a mess at home. Fee is $15 per initial child and $10 per each additional sibling.

School's Out Adventure Trips - All Adventure Trips are offered from 7:30 am - 5:30 pm for children ages 6-12 years. Fee is $45 and includes all field trips and lunch.
  • October 1- Corn Maze - Pick out your favorite fall sweater or football jersey because this School's Out Adventure Trip is going to the corn maze. Children and counselors will navigate their way through the maze of maize, pick out and decorate a pumpkin, search for the best fall colored leaves in the park, play some recreational flag football, and enjoy a cup of apple cider or hot cocoa while watching a fall movie.
  • November 1- Jurassic Quest - The dinosaurs are coming out of extinction for this Adventure Trip. Step into a Jurassic world as we take an expedition into the wild. Children will learn the basics of archery and range safety at our dinosaur archery range, paint their own dinosaur sculpture at Village Pottery Cafe, and relax to enjoy popcorn and a showing of The Good Dinosaur.

Adult & Senior Programming

Senior Craft Class - Every 2nd Friday from 9:00-10:30 am, join us for hands-on crafts and activities. Make and take home a masterpiece, but leave the mess behind. Fee is $5 per class. Pre-registration is recommended to allow the instructor to prepare the appropriate supplies.

Ladies' Night Crafts - Join us for Ladies' Night at the Republic Community Center. Grab a friend and join us at 6:00 pm for seasonal crafts, snacks, music, and time with the girls. Fee is $45 per class. Childcare available for children age 2-12 years. Fee is $15 per initial child and $10 per each additional sibling. Games, crafts, pizza, movies and popcorn provided. Pre-registration required.

Situational Defense Class - Join us on October 5 from 6:00-7:30 pm for an introductory to situational defense workshop led by guest instructors from F8 Training. The F8 program is meant to equip women with the moves and knowledge to be ready for a variety of situations. Fee is $15. Pre-registration required. Space is limited.

Senior Movies - Senior Movie Day is held on the last Thursday of every month at 3:00 pm, except in the event of Holidays when it will be held the Thursday prior. See the full schedule below. The movie is free and no registration is necessary. Seasonal snacks and activities are provided.

  • October 28 - Clue (1985) and Trick-or-Treat Costume Contest
  • November 18 - Mary Poppins (2018) and Ice Cream & Pie Social
  • December 16 - North Pole (2014) and Reindeer Hunt

Youth Futsal Registration

Youth Futsal registration will open on October 4. Each weekly session will include a 25 minute footskills training session followed by an hour of game play. Players will be divided into teams to scrimmage. Individual registration is available online at recdesk.republicparks.com (under Youth Sports). Have an entire team? All players can sign-up individually and request to play together when dividing into teams to scrimmage each week.

The program begins Monday, November 15 and runs for six weeks.

Session 1: Mondays 5:30-7:00 p.m. (Players Age 7-10)
Session 2: Mondays 7:15-8:45 p.m. (Players Age 10-13)

**SPACE IS LIMITED FOR EACH SESSION**
Players may register online in advance for all seven weeks for $20. Weekly drop-in participation will be available based on roster capacity. It is recommended players register in advance to secure their spot. Weekly drop-in registration will be opened online one week prior to each session. Any remaining availability will be accepted with cash payment at the Community Center on the day of the class. The weekly drop-in fee is $4 per player.

Boys Basketball Registration

Registration opens for Winter Boys Basketball on October 25! The season begins the week of January 3 and is open to players in Kindergarten - 6th Grade. Individual and team registration can be completed online at recdesk.republicparks.com (under Youth Sports). Register by November 19.

Pee Wee Hoops Registration

Registration for Pee Wee Hoops will begin on October 25! This eight-week instructional basketball league for players age 4 and 5 years old is the perfect place for your little one to start their basketball journey. Enjoy the combination of skills training, game play, and of course fun! Each weekly session will include a 30 minute practice where referees and coaches will help your player learn the fundamentals using the provided warm-up games. Immediately following the practice session, teams will have the chance to show off their skills as they play a 30 minute game.
