Reindeer Run 5K this Friday

Put on your running shoes and bundle up for the 8^th Annual Reindeer Run 5K to be held on Friday, December 2, 2016! The 5K begins at 7:00 p.m.; the race route begins at J.R. Martin Park and will take you through downtown Republic and then finish back at J.R. Martin Park.

Fees for the Reindeer Run 5K are $20.00 in advance ($12.00 with the donation of an unwrapped gift), $25.00 on race day ($17.00 with the donation of an unwrapped gift); all gifts will be donated to People Helping People in Republic, assisting them in their effort to provide Christmas toys to children in the Republic community. Medals and stocking caps will be awarded to the top three males and females in each age division; the fastest overall male and female along with the fastest overall male and female masters (40+) will receive a plaque and a Reindeer Run fleece jacket. Age groups are as follows: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and up. Registration forms and course maps are available at the Republic Community Center or at www.republicmo.com. Registration can also be done online at www.actnowracing.com (processing fees apply).

Breakfast with Santa to be held Saturday Morning

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting their annual “Breakfast with Santa” event on Saturday, December 3, 2016, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Republic Activities Building (next to the Republic Community Center). A pancake and sausage breakfast will be served for $3.00 per plate. In addition, Santa will be taking time out of his busy schedule to visit with the kids and take photos! You may take your own photos, or Parks & Rec. staff can do it for you for $1.00 per picture. Crafts will also be available! Don’t miss your chance to tell Santa what you want this Christmas! No registration is necessary for this event.

Winter Volleyball Registration Now Open

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department is currently taking registrations for the Winter Youth Volleyball league. Youth Volleyball is open to teams and individuals in 3^rd – 8^th grade. Registration will be open through Friday, December 30.

The eight-game season will begin the week of January 23, 2017; all games will be played at the Republic Community Center. Game days are as follows: 3^rd and 4^th Grade – Monday/Tuesday; 5^th, 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th Grade – Tuesday/Thursday. Grades may be combined depending on the number of teams registered.

The league fee is $250.00 per team ($25.00 discount for resident teams). For more information or to register an individual, contact the Republic Parks & Recreation Department at (417) 732-3500. This program will rely on volunteer coaches to make it successful.

School's Out Program to be offered over Winter Break

School’s Out Program will be offered during Winter Break (following the Republic School District calendar). Activities and field trips are planned to ensure a fun-filled day for the children. A sack lunch and a snack are required each day. Payment is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable. A minimum of 10 children must be registered 48 hours prior to each date in order to run the program. The program is available for ages 6 (or in kindergarten) through 12 and runs from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. The cost is $20 per child, per day. Field trips planned for each day are as follows:

December 21: Springfield Skateland
December 22: The Butterfly Palace
December 23: Incredible Pizza
December 27: Chesterfield Aquatic Center
December 28: Andy B’s
December 29: Village Pottery
December 30: New Year’s Eve Party
January 2: Jump Mania
January 3: Discovery Center

Note: Due to staffing requirements and pre-payment for field trip costs, School’s Out Program fees are non-refundable. Refunds or credits will not be given for children who sign up for the program and then withdraw.

Registration Open for Republic Tigers Lacrosse

The Republic Parks & Recreation Department is currently accepting registrations for the 2017 season of the Republic Tigers Lacrosse program! Leagues are available for boys in grades 5-12 and girls in grades 9-12 in the Southwest Missouri area. Practice begins in January 2017; games will begin in late February 2017.

Two leagues will be offered for boy’s lacrosse. The NEW Jr. High league (grades 5-8) is $200.00 per player. The High School league (grades 9-12) is $275.00 per player. Fees include equipment rental, uniform, and US Lacrosse Membership. All equipment and uniform items must be returned at the end of the season.

The girl’s league (High School, grades 9-12) is $150.00 per player and includes equipment rental, uniform, and US Lacrosse Membership. All equipment and uniform items must be returned at the end of the season.

Registration is currently underway and will be open through December 30, 2016. Payment is due at the time of registration.

Early Bird RAC Passes

The Republic Aquatic Center is offering discounted “Early Bird” Season Passes for the 2017 season through March 17, 2017. Pricing information is as follows:

Regular Price: $100.00; 'Early Bird' Price: $85.00, Savings: $15.00

2017 Resident Season Pass (Each Additional Family Member)
Regular Price: $20.00; 'Early Bird' Price: $15.00; Savings: $5.00

2017 Non-Resident Season Pass (Single/Initial Family Member)
Regular Price: $120.00; 'Early Bird' Price: $105.00; Savings: $15.00

2017 Non-Resident Season Pass (Each Additional Family Member)
Regular Price: $25.00; 'Early Bird' Price: $20.00; Savings: $5.00

Season passes make great gifts for the kids! “Early Bird” passes can be purchased at the Republic Community Center front desk. Please note that “The Huna” is not included in the price of a season pass; those wishing to ride this specialty attraction must pay a $2.00 daily fee.
