The type of business you want to operate in your home will determine if you are allowed to conduct your business at your residence. You will need to fill out a Business License Application and Home-Based Business Questionnaire. Business Licenses must be renewed every year. Your Home-Based Business Permit is filled out one time only unless the location changes or the type of business you are engaged in changes. Yes. You can register to vote at City Hall during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For specific information about voting in Greene or Christian County (e.g., absentee voting, your polling place, valid forms of identification required to vote, etc.) please contact either the Greene County Clerk at 417-868-4055 or the Christian County Clerk at 417-581-6360.

The Mayor is elected by the qualified voters of the City to serve a 4-year term. A Council Member from each ward shall be elected to serve staggered 4-year terms.

The City of Republic holds a general election each April, according to the schedule published by the Missouri Secretary of State. For the election to be held in April, candidate filing begins mid-December and closes mid-January. A notice of filing dates is published in the Greene County Commonwealth, City of Republic Facebook page, and at republicmo.com at least 2 weeks prior to sign-up. Each Candidate wishing to file for office must appear in person to the City Clerk and fill out the candidate declaration form.

Procedure for speaking at a Public Hearing: The Mayor will open the public hearing, at which time members of the public will be allowed to speak regarding the subject. A three minute time limit is requested. Each speaker will need to sign in and state their name and address for the record.
Procedure for speaking during Citizen Participation: The Mayor will open citizen participation, at which time members of the public will be allowed to speak regarding any not on the agenda. A 3-minute time limit is requested. Each speaker will need to sign in and state their name and address for the record. -
Certain items by law are required to have a public hearing for public input. Public hearings are always advertised in the newspaper prior to the meeting. Anyone is allowed to speak at a public hearing.City Clerk

The Mayor shall be a citizen of the United States and a resident of the City of Republic for 1 year at the time of filing for office and shall be a qualified voter. The Mayor shall remain a resident and qualified voter of the City during his/her term of office. No person shall be elected Mayor unless the person is at least 25 years of age on the date of filing for the office. In addition, the person running for Mayor shall not be in arrears for any unpaid City fees or taxes or have a felony record.City Clerk
